Natural mineral based cosmetics are safe, non toxic to the skin, and have the additional benefit of offering healing to skin cells. Everyone can search to find their personal combination of healthy products without excess chemical to bring out their natural glow of healthy skin.

If you want to see your skin glow you should use natural mineral based makeup. If you match the makeup to your skin type your skin will be glowing in no time.

When you are in your 20’s your skin is the firmest that it will ever be. Take a look around your medicine cabinet and start eliminating products that contain any paraben, chemical additives and especially alchohol. Always use natural makeup products that contain a sunscreen to protect your skin from both UVA/UVB rays.

It is important to apply natural skin products into your skin early. By doing so, it prevents damage from occurring and you can see the results on your skin later in your life. Zinc Oxide is a mineral that naturally occurrs in the earth. Skin can benefit from it natually.

Zinc oxide has the ability to absorb ultraviolet light. Many natural makeup formulations include zinc oxide. You will also find zinc oxide as an active ingredient of choice in many suntan lotions.

During your 30’s, you may begin to notice some fine lines appearing on your skin. Consequently, you’ll want to look for a natural makeup which includes moisturizing agents but which leaves out harsh chemicals or additives. Natural makeup should contain ingredients such as Titanium dioxide which not only act as a healing agent but also serve as a natural sun block. Many women mistakenly believe that the only time they need to worry about protecting their skin from sun exposure is when they are at the beach or are planning on spending time out in the sun. But your skin needs sun protection at all times. Since natural makeup includes ingredients in its base formulation which act to protect skin from sun exposure, by using natural makeup on an everyday basis, you will be providing your skin with a constant barrier of protection from the damaging rays of the sun.

If you take care of your skin and eat healthy you can avoid costly cosmetic surgery later in life. When women are in their 40’s they often notice that the skin around their neck begins to droop. This can be helped by doing specific neck exercises and exercising in general. Women in their 40’s you have adopted healthy lifestyles can often delay cosmetic surgery up to ten years.
Pure, entirely natural botanical oils are best used as moisturizers, applied each day to keep the skin firm and supple. These oils are present in natural makeup products. Hazelnut oil is one of the best moisturizers and also serves as an astringent to limit pore openings. Hazelnut oil also contains the important proteins, minerals, and vitamins your skin needs to stay healthy and toned in the long term.

Hazelnut oil like many natural makeup products penetrates the skin quickly, and nourish the skin. It has a mildly astringent action and thus is a base oil of choice for oily skin or skin with acne. Hazelnut Oil acts as a strong sun filter so it would be a valuable addition to a natural sunscreen. Pure natural makeup used in conjunction with a healthy diet regime will guarantee radiant healthy skin.

Super Clean is Not Good
In an effort to fulfill the age old saying cleanliness is next to Godliness, the use of antibacterial soaps is on the rise. The liberal use of soap is a good thing, but antibacterial soaps present several major risks. As early as 2005, researchers at Virginia Tech found that the active chemical ingredient in antibacterial soaps, triclosan, can cause two major health problems. First, consumers who use the soaps may be exposed to significant quantities of the cancer causing substance chloroform. Also, long term use of these soaps creates an unhealthy balance of antibiotic resistant bacteria on the skin. They found bacteria resistant to some of the more popular antibiotic drugs like chloramphenicol, ampicillin, tetracycline and ciprofloxacin.

Dr. Peter Vikesland, an environmental chemist at Virginia Tech had this to say about antibacterial soaps, This is the first work that we know of that suggests that consumer products, such as antimicrobial soap, can produce significant quantities of chloroform. There are numerous potential exposure pathways that can be envisioned, such as inhalation and skin exposure, when using antimicrobial soaps to wash dishes or when taking a shower. There is also risk of exposure when using triclosan laden moisturizers as they may also react with chlorine in the water.

What is Triclosan?
Triclosan is a synthetic antimicrobial agent found in a wide variety of products. Its broad spectrum, bacteria fighting ability has made it popular in an ever increasing number of personal care products, cosmetics, antimicrobial creams, acne treatments, lotions, hand soaps, and dish soaps. Triclosan goes under the trade name Microban®, when used in plastics and clothing and Biofresh® when used in acrylic fibers. Even though Triclosan is effective at killing bacteria, it is registered as a pesticide with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Pesticides are chemicals designed to kill some type of life form. The EPA considers triclosan a high risk for human health and the environment.

Why is Chloroform so Bad?
When triclosan, the active ingredient in antibacterial soaps, reacts with the chlorine in the tap water, chloroform is created. Chloroform is a central nervous system depressant and cancer causing compound. The U.S. Department of Labor has strict guidelines when it comes to contact with chloroform. Chronic inhalation of chloroform may cause psychiatric and neurological symptoms, including depression, hallucinations and moodiness. In one study, liver enlargement was demonstrated in 17 of 68 workers exposed to chloroform at low levels for 1 to 4 years. Alcoholics are more at risk from chloroform because ethanol increases chloroforms toxic effects.

Some Bacteria are Good for You
The bacteria on your skin serve as a part of your skins natural defense mechanism. Your skin uses healthy bacteria to keep colonies of unhealthy bacteria at bay. Without the healthy bacteria, the unhealthy ones can take over and create infections and other skin problems. Destroy all the healthy bacteria with antibacterial soap and you set yourself up for big problems. The constant use of antibacterial soaps is similar to using antibiotics for every little cold or sneeze. All antibacterial products should be used sparingly so that resistant strains of bacteria do not develop. Using antibiotics only when necessary ensures they will remain effective when the need arises.

Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria
When bacteria are exposed to long term, low doses of antibiotics, some of them can develop antibiotic resistance. Resistant bacteria must be treated with other, sometimes stronger antibiotics. In rare instances, there is no known medication that will kill the bacteria. It is wiser to use antibiotics sparingly and for shorter duration. The constant use of antimicrobials, as in the antibacterial soaps, creates a real long term health hazard; one that is easily avoidable with regular soap.

It is without a doubt that people who have an excessive production of oil are more prone to acne breakouts and eruptions. This is due to the fact that the more oil produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin, the more dead skin cells get trapped in the hair follicles. The skin gets irritated and the acne-causing bacteria act up, in result, thereby making the condition worse.

What causes oily skin?

There are a lot of factors that cause skin to become oily. Heredity plays a huge part. Diet, medication and cosmetics also affect the skin. Stress as well as the level of one’s hormones can also be blamed for an oily skin.

What are the issues caused by an oily skin?

A person suffering from excessive oil production experiences not only mild to severe acne eruptions, but they also run the risk of suffering from low self esteem as well as a negative view of his or her body image. Aside from these, the person will also find it a bit uncomfortable, especially since oily skin tends to be shinier and greasier than other skin types. Moreover, people who suffer from an oily skin do tend to have more acne eruptions than those who do not. This is due to the fact that the dead skin cells as well as the bacteria that cause acne get trapped in the hair follicle and cause the pores to become clogged. Once clogged, the bacteria thrive, contributing greatly to the inflammation, the redness and the flare-ups of acne.

What are the general acne products that can control acne and oily skin?

There are many acne products out in the market today, among which are the creams, lotions, solutions, and even gels that contain ingredients that can either kill acne-causing bacteria or unclog the clogged pores.

Some of the general acne products are those that contain benzoyl peroxide, sulfur and resorcinol, salicylic acid, and alcohol and acetone. What these commonly do is free up the clogged pores from dead skin cells and oil, kill the bacteria and then prevent them from growing and proliferating.

Topical antibiotics containing erythromycin or those mentioned above can also be used, and these are applied locally to the affected areas. The over-the-counter (OTC) acne medications usually work well for people who are suffering from mild to moderate acne.

OTC medications can be purchased without a prescription, but it is still advisable that you start with lower dosages so as not to further irritate your skin. Since there are a lot of OTC acne medications to choose from, make sure that you purchase a reliable and trusted acne product.

People who have persistent acne eruptions and who are suffering from moderate to severe acne may have to look beyond over-the-counter acne medication. It would be best for them to seek the advice of a dermatologist. They will probably be prescribed stronger medications for the treatment and prevention of their acne condition.

Medications that are prescribed for severe and chronic acne usually contain adapalene, azelaic acid, clindamycin, erythromycin, and sodium sulfacetamide. Oral contraceptives as well as oral antibiotics may also be part of a severe acne treatment regimen.

If you believe that acne is a problem only teenagers and adults face, think again. Babies may also have signs of acne. It could have breaks in 2-3 weeks after birth. Baby acne is more common in the facial region on the chin (the cheeks and forehead) and can even have back acne at this early stage of life. Baby acne should not be confused with milia or eczema. Milia is also known as milk spots. These are small, hard and white spots usually disappear within two weeks. Eczema, moreover, is a type of skin inflammation and more severe acne. Symptoms of eczema include the expansion and blisters. White spots also are a problem and these are small bumps, either white or flesh colored, that are caused by blocked pores. You'll know if your child has acne pimples begin to appear within the first month. Some medical studies show that acne baby may begin to form while children are still in the womb. In the last stage of pregnancy, maternal hormones are transmitted through the placenta and are received by the fetus. In reality, this can stimulate your baby's sebaceous glands and the presence of oil, acne can appear easily. This is why some children seem to have red bumps, even after birth. To prevent acne, make sure you're not using detergents to wash clothes for your baby. Some detergents may contain harsh chemicals that can aggravate the skin. Wipe away any food, drinks, or saliva that may leak from the mouth of her baby and that baby can worsen acne. Always ensure that the baby's face is cleaned with mild soap and water every day. Do not try to wash her face because the baby's skin is so sensitive and washing may cause redness. Do not use oils and lotions are not recommended by your doctor. These can irritate the skin of your baby with ease. You should be alarmed if the problem of baby acne lasts for more than six months. It is important to get advice from your doctor if the baby acne worse.
